NURSE AIDE
CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS

Classes Begin Every Monday

The course is designed to provide the student with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform basic care services for residents in long-term care facilities. It prepares the student to function in the role of nursing assistant under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN). This course is designed to meet the curriculum requirements of the Louisiana Department of Health. To be eligible to take the competency exam, students must successfully complete 40 hours of classroom instruction and 40 hours of clinical site training. The length of this program is 3 weeks. Two weeks of classroom instructional learning and one week at a clinical site for training. Upon successful completion of this course, students are awarded a certificate of completion, however, a student must successfully pass the state-approved proficiency examination administered by Prometric in order to become a Certified Nursing Assistant.
 

An additional 4 hours of facility orientation is also required and is not included in the core curriculum.
 

Requirements:

  •  Must be 16 years old or older

  • ·Valid government I.D. or Driver's License

  • · Must be either:

          a.    Right to Review
           (student requests directly from the LSP)

         b.    Authorized agency
          (school request from the approved authorized agency)
